Spring in St. Croix brings sunny skies, steady trade winds, and the gentle shift into the island’s drier season. While it may not be our greenest time of year, the days are warm, the waters are clear, and the energy across the island is vibrant. Whether you're here for the season or call St. Croix home, there's plenty to enjoy. Here's how to make the most of spring on the island.

1. Take In the Seasonal Blooms
While the island starts to get a bit drier in spring, you’ll still find bursts of color in flowering trees and tropical plants. It’s a lovely time for outdoor exploring and soaking in some of the season’s quieter beauty.
Best Spots to Visit:
· Point Udall – Start the day with sunrise at the easternmost point of the U.S.
· Jack and Isaac Bay Preserve – A peaceful hike with stunning ocean views and one of my favorite quiet beaches.
· The Botanical Garden of the Virgin Islands – A relaxing walk through native flora, historic ruins, and beautiful landscape design.
Pro Tip: I love planning a picnic this time of year! Pack your favorite snacks, wear comfy shoes, and don’t forget water. The views never get old, no matter how many times you’ve been.
2. Hit the Beach
Spring is an ideal time to enjoy St. Croix’s world-class beaches. The waters are calm, the weather is perfect, and the atmosphere is relaxed.
Top Beaches to Visit:
· Shoys Beach – A quiet, hidden gem perfect for swimming and picnicking.
· Rainbow Beach – A great spot for water sports, live music, and breathtaking sunsets.
Pro Tip: I love buying new beach gear; this means a nice cooler, beach chairs, and an umbrella. For the secluded beaches like Shoys, you'll want to pack light. On the days I don't feel like hauling gear, I head out to Rainbow where they have chairs to rent and a beach restaurant for food and drinks. I love a glass of coconut water with no ice when available!
3. Snorkel or Dive in Crystal-Clear Waters
Spring means visibility is great and ocean conditions are ideal for exploring St. Croix’s famous underwater world.
Best Snorkeling & Diving Spots:
· Buck Island Reef National Monument – Home to a famous underwater snorkeling trail and vibrant marine life.
· Frederiksted Pier – My go-to for spotting sea turtles and colorful reef life.
· Cane Bay – A shore dive with easy access to “The Wall,” one of the most impressive underwater drop-offs in the Caribbean.
Pro Tip: You don't have to own snorkel or diving gear. I usually rent from one of the dive shops and I've even booked a guided tour which was the best experience. Being environmentally conscious I definitely wear my reef-safe sunscreen to help protect the marine environment.
4. Shop for Spring Finds at the Markets
Support small businesses and find unique goods by visiting St. Croix’s farmers' markets and artisan shops. From fresh tropical produce to handmade crafts, shopping small is a great way to support the island’s culture.
Best Markets & Shops to Visit:
· Agriculture Fair Farmers’ Market – Pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, and local delicacies.
· Pop-up Events and Street Fairs - Vendors and exhibitors with hand made goods and crafts are usually available at all of the pop up events and fairs.
Pro Tip: I love seasonal fruits like sugar apple, guava, and carambola—spring is the best time to enjoy them!
5. Experience a Sunset Sail Along the Coast
Spring’s gentle trade winds and clear skies make it the perfect season for a sunset sail. Whether you want a romantic evening or a fun outing with friends, a cruise along St. Croix’s coastline is a must-do experience.
What to Expect:
· The colors of the sunset reflecting on the Caribbean Sea.
· Relaxing ambiance with gentle breezes and ocean sounds.
· Refreshing drinks and snacks to enjoy onboard.
Pro Tip: I love that we have so many opportunities to cruise the sunset. These are popular amongst those who live here and those who are visiting so book in advance, as they tend to fill up quickly in the spring months.
6. Spring Real Estate Spotlight: The Market is Heating Up
Spring is a prime time for real estate in St. Croix, with new listings and increased buyer interest. Now is a great time to explore the market.
Current Market Trends:
· Single-family homes are in high demand.
· Waterfront condos offer a low-maintenance option for buyers seeking a vacation retreat with rental income potential.
· Land parcels on the East End and North Shore are drawing attention for those looking to build their dream home.
